CALEA Accreditation - East Central Dispatch Center

In November 2022, ECDC was awarded its first accreditation designed to maintain international recognition for Public Safety Communication Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA ®). Accreditation is for a four-year period.

CALEA ® is considered the gold standard in public safety because of its strict standards, and ECDC is proud of our accreditation. Being accredited is an incredible honor and reflects the dedication of all ECDC personnel.

To be accredited, communication centers must go through a rigorous review and evaluation of the organization and the implement necessary policy and procedure changes. This program requires organizations to collect and analyze important data for the purpose of making sound operational and administrative business decisions, creating leadership and practitioner-accountability. By voluntarily choosing to seek CALEA ® Accreditation, ECDC commits itself to ongoing annual review of adherence to CALEA ® standards

CALEA ® was established in 1979 by four major law law enforcement executive associations: International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP); National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE); National Sheriff’s Association (NSA); and Police Executive Research Forum (PERF). The Commission was established in part to administer an accreditation process through which law enforcement agencies demonstrate they meet professionally recognized criteria for excellence. In 1999, in conjunction with the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO), CALEA ® released a full-scale accreditation program specifically for public safety communication agencies.

ECDC is proud to be one of only six (6) communications centers in the State of Missouri that is recognized as bein CALEA ® Accredited. With continued support from our Board of Directors, along with the agencies and communities we serve, ECDC looks forward to continuing to demonstrate our commitment to excellence!
